Thank you to everyone who was involved. We hope you all had so much fun learning about … stereotypes, respect, the islam faith and being unique. from Kayla, Luke and the fabulous house captains.
Our first term in Year 6 went extremely fast and we learnt so much in such a small time frame! For example we very quickly leart how to add fractions, convert between fractions, decimals and percentages using strategies like: using our times tables to find equivalent fractions and common factors.
We have written short stories about being washed up and surviving on the island.Creative experiences have been in abundance including: a music workshop with Anita and Duncan, Brazilian carnival, theme area, green screening and Morfo’s. We all feel really blessed to have these fun times with many lovely people.
We looked at the hat designer Philip Treacy to influence our own headdresses – which we successfully made. We wore these to our Brazilian carnival where we learnt traditional dances including the samba!
Megan had a fantastic opportunity to go to the BBC studio and meet the one and only author Jaqueline Wilson.
As well as meeting Jaqueline Wilson she met the TV presenters of Blue Peter, Radzi and Lynsey. They had an amazing time there.
Megan even got to interview Jaqueline Wilson and here is a clip of her time in Manchester.
We started our narrative topic and we magpied some ideas from our class novel Kensuke’s Kingdom.
We picked out some effective features and had to explain why we chose them and the impact it had on the reader.
Next our class improved openings so we are ready to plan and write our own survival narrative.
We had so much fun learning some new singing skills.
Thank you to Anita and Duncan.
